activist: a person who believes strongly in political or social change and works hard to try and make this happen.
aid: help or support.
capitalism: an economic, political and social system based on private ownership of property, business and industry, and directed towards making the greatest possible profits for successful organizations and people.
civil rights: the rights that each person has in a society, whatever their race, sex or religion.
commodity: a substance or product that can be traded, bought or sold debt something, especially money, which is owed to someone else.
fair trade: a way of buying and selling products that makes certain that the original producer receives a fair price.
free trade: international buying and selling of goods, without limits on the amount of goods that one country can sell to another, and without special taxes on the goods bought from a foreign country.
marketplace: a set of trading conditions or the business.
globalisation: the increase of trade around the world, especially by large companies producing and trading goods in many different countries.
human rights: the basic rights which it is generally considered all people should have, such as justice and the freedom to say what you think.
indignant: angry because of something which is wrong or not fair.
liberalise: to make laws, systems or attitudes less severe.
G8: the eight countries of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK, and the US, whose leaders meet every year to discuss international problems.
